Migrant Media Monitoring Project Webinar

  • Runnymede United Church 432 Runnymede Road Toronto, ON, M6S 2Y8 Canada (map)

Join the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) on International Migrants Day, Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00pm, for a free webinar presenting the findings from the inaugural North American Migrant Media Monitoring Project.

Balanced and ethical reporting matters in the coverage of the stories of migrants from their country of origin to the host country. The voice and agency of the migrants themselves matter. As a faith-based organization, WACC-North America intends to share the results of a recent survey of media stories about migrants with our respective denominations, various interfaith organizations and advocacy groups engaged in work with migrants. These evidence-based findings provide an advocacy tool for those involved in activist work, offer a practical resource for denominational migrant work, and help urge policy-makers to come up with humane solutions to the plight of migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, while addressing the root causes that continue to displace people from their country of origin. The findings offer us a rich resource to observe International Migration Day on December 18, and the events preceding and following the day.
