Runnymede United Church is an Affirming Congregation, recognized by Affirm United for the process of reflection and education that we undertook as a congregation and our overwhelmingly positive vote to live into this identity. We are committed to radical welcome and inclusion of all people without judgement or prejudice, to make this a place where all of God’s people belong. Our two-campus church is a safe space for 2SLGBTQ+ people.
Information on our Congregational Vote
Thank you to everyone who participated in the congregational meeting held on Sunday, May 3, and to those who remembered us in prayer at that time. I am pleased to announce that the Runnymede United Church community of faith voted to approve changes to the terms of the call to Rev Laura Gallagher-Doucette to move to a part-time ministerial role in shared ministry with Rev Ted Grady, to begin Sept 1, 2026 as Laura embarks on her PhD studies. We will send this information to the Shining Waters Regional Council with a request that they approve this amendment.
During the meeting, we also received feedback on the work that could be done in a new management position that would coordinate many of the congregation's activities. The Ministry & Personnel committee received the comments and questions about the new position, especially the title, and will present new ideas when the Board meets later in May. Stay tuned for more information on this.
